CITY GUIDE: JAIPUR
Step behind the scenes of our latest campaign set in the vibrant and colourful city of Jaipur, India, renowned for its rich history, inspiring palaces, and bustling markets. We had the pleasure of working with Jaipur-based stylist and art director Laturia, who shared her favourite things about the city and recommended the best spots to see, eat, and explore.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Mihika, I like to call myself Laturia. The name and word Laturia (lé-too-riya) in a local Rajasthani dialect 'marwari', means long messy hair which resonates with my perception of beauty in the things around me - raw, unkempt, open yet one-in-a-kind. It represents my journey towards exploration, curation and creation of Indian art, craft, culture and bringing them forward in contemporary visuals by building an understanding of their history, significance, utility and aesthetics.
I am currently based in Jaipur, India and working as an Independent Art Director, Stylist and Visual Communication Curator.
What are your favourite things about Jaipur City?
Jaipur has a unique amalgamation of local and global culture, people, food, architecture, bazaars and so much more. It’s one of the places/feelings that you write about in poems or paint about.
Living in the rich and diverse landscape of this city, I find inspiration from everyday things around me. My favourite thing is to just roam around in the old walled-city of Jaipur and soak in everything there is.
Favourite place to grab a bite like the locals (hidden gems), number one item you have to order off the menu?
Morning Tea and Samosa at Samrat Chai, Chaura Rasta gives you the true feel of local life in Jaipur. Carrot Cake at Anokhi Cafe is also one of my favourites.
Best wine or cocktail bar?
Bar Palladio, The Johri and Native Cocktail Room are my favourites.
